| I spent most of my Halloween in a car. >.>; Dad had a delivery to do to around Memphis so I pretty much tagged along for company and to help unload stuff. It's a 9 hr drive from Chicago and we had to take a van and one of those smaller U-haul like trailers behind. We had to be up at 4:30 am. Was bored enough during the car ride to type up our road trip 'itinerary.' Bear in mind that these pics were taken from a moving van with an iphone...
4:30 am - woke up and started getting ready 5:10 am - finished setting up merchandise and started to head out to Memphis 8:00 am - drifted in and out of sleep since there's nothing but cornfields... 381 miles til destination 8:30 am - had mcdonalds egg cheese and bacon mcmuffin and filled gas 9:30 am - bored again, but saw much raccoon roadkill, there was a skunk too. how weird. 11:19 am - crossed Missouri state line/bridge

12:18 pm - stopped for gas and chicken teriayki subway. Saw a coon hat.

1:05 pm - crossed into Arkansas... failed sign pic, van too dirty, not to mention dead bug splatters and bird crap >.>;

2:14 pm - reached Memphis, another bridge marking border

2:32 pm - reached destination on outskirts of Memphis, much warmer here than Chicago (can wear tshirt outside). Customer is a buffet type restaurant owner and the merchandise we sold are purely used as gifts. You go on your bday and get a free gift and a free meal. Apparently, they still make a profit as they have 4 other restaurants. 4:35 pm - finished unloading... Gather bunch of calluses, sore muscles, and at least a layer of dirt. Was treated to a free meal before leaving. More pics of Memphis while leaving. Quite a bit of wetlands along the highway.

6:19 pm - filled more gas and got pistachio and almond ice cream.

9:49 pm - another gas stop in Salem, Illinois though. Back to cold weather... Problem with road trips is not to drink so much liquids and to always take a bathroom break at every gas stop.

11:34 pm - saw this weird lighted dragon float thing on back of moving car. By this time, hands too numb from gripping ds and pen too hard while playing Ouendan... dam hardest mode with cheerleaders.

1:01 am - another gas stop. Barely awake now. 2:11 am - reached home. technically 1:11 am since daylight savings time. And... that's how my Halloween was. >.>;

| So... Red Cliff part 2 was pretty good. You don't need to see part 1 to enjoy it according to Teddy. The time setting is during the war to the end. It's pretty much the story of the Three Kingdoms and is considered one of the more accurate versions out there. Ofc, I had trouble following it completely since I fail at learning my own culture. Doesn't help that my mind kept on replacing the names of the characters from the crappy pronunciation in Dynasty Warriors games. There's also the fact that I had to rely on the subs half the time. Truly sad. Still a good movie. It's awesome just watching their strategies. Lost by a cup of tea indeed.
Ping Pong Playa is, of course, crack. Not as bad as Balls of Fury though. Basically, chinese culture + ping pong + humor. There are quite a bit of funny parts with references like how Miss Chinatown actually isn't even Chinese nor speaks Chinese. I think the ost amusing part for me is that the protagonist talks ghetto style... exactly the way my bro does. And... did ping pong actually originate in China? O.o; I think the movie is lying to me.
| So, I finally got half of my root canal done. Half meaning the part where they drill into your tooth and dig out all of the nerves and pulp. >.>; And of course, it sorta failed. They had to give me anesthesia 3x and take 2 xrays 'cuz the machine that measures how long my tooth was didn't work properly. From the xray, she went in a little too deep, past my tooth. I saw at least 2 metal drills into the gum. Thank god I was drugged.
The worst part of it is the clamp that keeps my jaw from closing. Had it on for maybe an hour. The pain lacing from my jaw merged in with the pain of the tooth. The other bad thing about it is the smell of the drill grinding on my tooth and watching particles come up as white chalk dust.
In the end, it was inflamed so that I can't get it finished 'til next friday. They put in a temporary filling loaded with meds. Then they gave me 3 600mg ibuprofen tablets... with the instructions to get my own after polishing those off. The dentist was like, "So you know how it's recommended to take 1-2 tablets with the over the counter ibuprofen? Ok, now take 2-4 instead. " orz
Lemme say... drugs aren't really helping. I guess its congee for me for a while. ;A;

| I can see why Inglourious Basterds is a cult movie... still pretty good though. | | |
| I got my scores back. Needless to say, but I'll be taking another year off. I honestly thought I did at least decent and that set me up for higher disappointment. I've been having more dreams lately and this spurred the latest of them.
I was at work talking to either a coworker or friend. I think I laughed a bit loudly about something. The next thing I know, one of the residents came over and yelled at me. Turns out, that day a funeral is being held for one of the attendings. I was being called a sheep, and nothing but a waterboy (dunno why my mind conjured up that as an insult). I replied so what if I am? Nothing really pisses someone off then by simply admitting to whatever insults they throw at you. I then got sent to fetch him a cup of coffee from Panera. Arriving there, I see one of the medical student working as the cashier. Apparently, he thinks the world of the resident and me. Still end up getting the order wrong though. Then I woke up when he gave me the right order.
My own analysis of the dream goes like this... The death of the Attending is probably representing my dying aspiration to be a doctor. The goal seems farther away. The anger of the Resident would be my own frustration toward myself for not making it. Lastly, the overeager aspiring medical student should be me not wanting to give up just yet. Coincidentally, both of the Attending and Resident are quite hot. Chalking it up to the attraction of continuing down this path... or I just wanted a bit of eyecandy in my bleak mind.
I'm not sure what else to think except now I'm being tided over to Vixen's quarter-life crisis stage. Right now, the plan is to retake the MCAT next year and try to get in for 2011. Time to live and breathe MCAT.
